Looking Back From the Future: Connecting Accreditation, Health Reform, and Political Opportunities

Origin: Journal of Public Health Management & Practice, July/August 2010

Gene W. Matthews, J.D., North Carolina Institute for Public Health, and Edward L. Baker, M.D., M.P.H., University of North Carolina, have written a commentary on “Looking Back From the Future: Connecting Accreditation, Health Reform, and Political Opportunities” for the "Management Moment" section in the July/August issue of the Journal of Public Health Management & Practice.

Matthews and Baker call to begin now to set aside funds for accreditation into categorical funding streams, Medicaid reimbursement administrative costs, and the new health care reform infrastructure programs going to state and local health departments.

Mathews and Baker received a Public Health Law Research grant last year to support work on this topic.
